When Britishers were conducting revenue settlement in this area, Hathras Zamindari area was given to Dayaram and Mursan Zamindari area was given to Baghavantha Sing by the East India Company for the collection of revenue tax for the Government. These two Zamindars were not properly paying revenue tax to the government. Further they provided shelter to anti-Government robberers like Badhiks and Mewatis in their courts. Further, company Government enhanced land revenue tax. Due to this many Zamindars, Jagirdars, Landlords, Landed Militia, Ryots were unable to pay land revenue tax to the Government regularly. Hence, the Government land revenue tax fallen in arrears. Those Zamindari lands, ryots lands were selling to outsiders. Thus, lands passed in to the hands of moneyed people and outside Europeans. This created utter confusion among the people. Thus, Zamindars, Jagirdars, Landlords, ryots raised their revolts from stationing themselves in the armed forts. Hence, the Government took steps to suppress the tax evaders by destroying forts through military operations. Government of Alighar district instructed the Dayaram to destroy forts to control the activities of Zamindars who were stationed in the forts along with their
strong militia (forces). Due to delay in implementing the order of Government military action was taken on Dayaram, which led to a war between 1814 to 17. Ultimately superior forces of the company got victory over Dayaram and other Zamindars. Peace was established by military operation by the British.
